Frequently asked questions
What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy combines CBT-style methods with hypnosis. It looks at the connection between thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical responses, while using hypnosis and imagery to practise calmer, more helpful ways of responding.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. In therapeutic hypnosis, you remain aware and in control. You can speak, move, open your eyes, or stop at any time. Hypnosis is a focused state of attention, not mind control.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses relaxation, focused attention, suggestion, and mental imagery to help you work toward a specific goal. You remain aware and in control during the session. It is not about being unconscious or controlled by the therapist.
What happens in a session?
A session usually starts with a conversation about your goal and what has been keeping the problem going. We may then use relaxation, hypnosis, imagery, cognitive techniques, or mental rehearsal. You may also be given simple exercises to practise between sessions.
What issues can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy may support people with anxiety, stress, confidence, habits, fears, phobias, overthinking, emotional regulation, life changes, motivation, and sports performance.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people work over 6–8 online sessions, depending on the issue and their goals. This gives us time to understand the problem, learn practical techniques, practise new responses, and review progress. Each session is 55 minutes long.
Do I need to be good at visualising?
No. You do not need to see clear pictures in your mind. Some people imagine through feelings, words, memories, or a general sense of the situation. Hypnotherapy can be adapted to how your mind naturally works. It is the idea that matters.
Is hypnotherapy suitable for everyone?
Hypnotherapy can be helpful for many people, but it is not suitable for every situation. It is not a replacement for medical care, emergency support, or specialist mental health treatment. A suitability call can help decide whether this approach is appropriate for you.
Is everything confidential?
Your information is treated confidentially, except in situations where there may be a serious risk of harm, safeguarding concerns, or a legal requirement to share information.
How do I get started?
You can book an initial free consultation to discuss what you would like help with, ask questions, and decide whether hypnotherapy feels like the right approach for you.
